Present at the event were several members of the Romanian community in Stockholm, parishioners of Assumption Parish, Bredang district.
Although champagne disposed on this occasion was a drink without alcohol, was thus symbolically marked first and most important step in the construction stages of building which is a first in Scandinavia.
Project of building the first Romanian church in Scandinavia and a cultural complex was started by the Romanian-Swedish Cultural Association "FRATIA" that obtained for this purpose 9000 square meters in district Bredang, Sweden's capital.
"Today's event marks once again that the cultural association "Frăţia" is the owner of the land of 9 000 sqm, where will be built, in the first round first Romanian Orthodox church in Stockholm and Scandinavia. Forward, we want this holy sanctuary to unite souls of all Romanians living on these lands . As an urge, I think that now is time to put shoulder to shoulder to show our Swedish brothers that we are a people with heart and character, that we can preserve our cultural and spiritual values and that we are able to administer in our backyard.
From now on, everything we build with our hands will be ours, will belong to the whole community.
Let us thank God that we live these moments in life-building a church-that we are eyewitnesses to such unique events , and be proud of us because we participate in building God's house on our own strength and any help, however small, in addition, we will receive with open arms.
Even if we are not a large community, with God and the Virgin Mary, will be able to go to complete an unfulfilled desire for 25 years. Nothing is easy, will be difficult, test there will be large, but we will succeed with the help of all. Faith and hope will be the bridge to victory. So help us God!", said on this occasion Mrs. Elena Borca, president of the Romanian-Swedish Cultural Association "Frăţia"
"I pray to God for Swedish people and thank the Swedish authorities for trust and understanding that we have granted to achieve efforts started many years ago - to raise a sanctuary. Also, thanks to Romanian-Swedish Cultural Association "Frăţia" for the beautiful collaboration they had with the Swedish authorities and our church, for success in obtaining land, for their Christian devotion and love for the church, without which ouer efforts could not come up here. There have been many very heavy phase, uncertainty, but today we can say that no day has been futile struggle, we can say that we fought with pure heart and that we managed. Personally thank those who have trusted us and thank all those believers who contributed and who will join to fulfillment of this project. Let us pray to the Holy Trinity and Our Lady to be before we go and to bless our hearts, to wisdom and dedication, to build up God's house clean and peaceful. God bless us! ", said, in the same context, in relation to significant moments, father Gheorghe Borca, priest of Assumption Romanian Orthodox parish in Bredang, Stockholm.
